Across the nation, the franchise league cricket carnival has been going strong. With the exception of a few states that now operate their own Kerala Cricket League, often known as “God’s Own Country,” is about to launch a brand-new cricket spectacle across the nation. On Monday, September 2, the highly anticipated Kerala Cricket League (KCL 2024) will begin play. However, the Kochi Blue Tigers, one of the participating teams, caused controversy before the six-team competition even got underway.
After releasing the team anthem, the Tigers have found themselves in legal hot water. Notably, the crew has been accused of piracy by Visual Romance, the production firm of the well-known Malayalam film “Aadujeevitham.” The movie production made the decision to file a lawsuit against the team owners for unauthorised use of the song as their official anthem. Notably, the song for the smash hit movie was written by music maestro AR Rehman.
According to Blessy, the director of Visual Romance, the UK-based company that owns the rights to the Blue Tigers team, they did purchase the copyright to the theme song, “Hope,” but they were not granted a free license to edit and use the song’s music video for profit, such as making an anthem. In addition to penning the song, Oscar-winning music director AR Rehman plays the starring role in the music video.
As a result, in the aftermath, it was stated on OnManorama that the video was altered only to feature AR Rehman as the Kochi Blue Tigers’ marketing ambassador. Furthermore, the aforementioned official hymn used the aforementioned images as well. As things stand, Visual Romance has asked the team owners to provide an explanation about their anthem behaviour. However, the hit movie’s creators have now chosen to pursue legal action in the case of pirate infringement after waiting a long and not hearing back from the team owners.
The film ‘Aadujeevitham- The Goat Life’, a survival drama, was released in 2024 for those who are unfamiliar with it. Both the film community and fans gave the film a great deal of praise. The film took home multiple Keralan accolades. The film was nominated for and won prizes for being one of the most well-liked films, best screenplay, and best actor and director, in that order.
