The Hobart Hurricanes and Mignon du Preez of the WBBL have re-signed

Mignon du Preez, a South African batsman, has re-signed with Hobart Hurricanes in the Women’s Big Bash League.

With 414 runs at 31.84 and four half-centuries, she was the Hurricanes’ best run-scorer last season. Lizelle Lee, a former South Africa teammate and close friend, has returned to the Hurricanes after leaving from the team last season and has agreed to play in Hobart. The two had previously been teammates with the Melbourne Stars.

Elyse Villani, the Hurricanes’ new captain, is a former Stars teammate of Du Preez’s.

This is the first time I’ve been away from home for so long. “Love the Big Bash. Last season, I made the difficult decision to transfer to the Hurricanes, but I am happy to report that I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Miami, on and off the field. I got to know a lot of the girls well, and as a result, our team’s cricket improved dramatically.

In WBBL 08, we’ll be fielding a side that includes many of the same players as last year as well as some excellent newcomers. Knowing what Junior (Villani) and Lizelle (Lee) can bring to a T20 team, I believe we’re in a strong position this year.”

Heather Graham, Lizelle Lee, Emma Manix-Geeves and Hayley Silver-Holmes make up the rest of the Hobart Hurricanes women’s rugby team for the 2017 Women’s National Rugby League season.
