On Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued an invitation for bids to own and run clubs in the first-ever Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL), which will begin in March.
It is anticipated that the debut season of the Women’s Indian Premier League will take place from March 3 to 26, and that it would be followed by the initial season of the men’s IPL.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued the following statement: “Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces release of Invitation to Tender for the right to own and run a team in Women’s Indian Premier League.”
“Through a process of public solicitation, the Governing Council of the IPL is looking to purchase the rights to own and run a team in the Women’s Indian Premier League. Interested parties are encouraged to submit offers.
“Up until the 21st of January, the ITT can be purchased for a one-time cost of five lakh Indian rupees (Rs.), which is not refundable.
“The Invitation to Tender (ITT) must be purchased by any interested party that want to submit a bid.
“However, only those individuals who meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the ITT and who are subject to the other terms and restrictions outlined in the ITT will be permitted to submit bids for the project. It has been shown that merely obtaining this ITT does not give any person the right to place a bid on the item.
“BCCI reserves the right to cancel or alter the bidding process at any point in any manner at its discretion,” the BCCI noted. “BCCI reserves the right to cancel or amend the bidding process at any stage in any manner.”
On December 31, the deadline for the invitation to tender for media rights passed.
