“Thank you for being an inspiration,” Jaydev Unadkat said to Irfan Pathan after winning the Ranji Trophy.

"Thank you for being an inspiration," Jaydev Unadkat said to Irfan Pathan after winning the Ranji Trophy.

Wishes came in for Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat when his team defeated Bengal in the Ranji Trophy final to win their second championship in three years. After receiving a congratulatory message from former cricketer Irfan Pathan, Unadkat praised the former Indian fast bowler as an influence in his career.

Jaydev Unadkat was released from the Indian squad for the Ranji Trophy final, and the Saurashtra captain performed admirably in the championship match against Bengal. The left-arm pacer took three wickets in the first innings and six wickets in the second innings to lead his team to a decisive victory.

Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan congratulated Unadkat via his Twitter account for winning his second Ranji Trophy “Congratulations to the Saurashtra cricket team for their consistency in the Ranji trophy over the past few years and for reclaiming the trophy. Nicely done Jaydev Unadkat.”

The captain of Saurashtra responded to the former Indian cricketer by calling him an inspiration. The author, age 31, wrote, “Thank you, Irfan bhai! Thank you for being an inspiration throughout the trip, as I often say.”

After nine years, Jaydev Unadkat could make his debut ODI appearance for India.
Unadkat, who has led Saurashtra to two Ranji Trophy championships and a Vijay Hazare Trophy, has been retained for India’s final two Tests against Australia. The left-arm pacer was also chosen in the squad for the One-Day International (ODI) series, which will begin after the Test series concludes.

The veteran cricketer made his long-awaited return to the Test side during the Bangladesh trip at the tail end of last year and could make his first One-Day International (ODI) appearance for India next month after a nine-year absence.
