Hours before play on Friday, August 30, began, an unending downpour in Rawalpindi caused the highly anticipated second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh to be cancelled owing to adverse weather conditions.
The play, which was scheduled to begin on August 30, 2024, was cancelled since there could not be any play because of heavy rain that was falling in Rawalpindi few hours before the show was scheduled to start.
Actually, it was for the same reason that the teams had to postpone their practice sessions on Thursday. With additional rain predicted throughout the day and a gloomy cloudy prediction for tomorrow, things don’t appear promising for the remainder of the day or the evening.
The current Test was originally scheduled to take place in Karachi, however the Pakistan Cricket Board moved the match to Rawalpindi since the National Stadium is undergoing renovations.
The game-changing moment arrived when the umpires determined that no play could be made that day after evaluating the covered pitch caused by the persistent rain.
The playing XIs, which will only be disclosed at the toss, are still up in the air because it doesn’t appear like any play will be possible on Friday either. Abrar Ahmed, a leg-spinner, has been added to the hosts’ XII for the second Test, despite their previous all-pace assault. Taskin Ahmed is anticipated to replace Nahid Rana for Bangladesh, who conceded 135 runs in the 25 overs he bowled during the first two innings of the match while only recording one wicket.
