Starting on October 21, South Africa will travel to Bangladesh for the first two matches of their Test series. Temba Bavuma, the Proteas’ captain, will not be playing in the opening Test, which is a severe blow for the team.
The South African lineup is severely hampered by Bavuma’s absence because they are traveling with a relatively inexperienced squad. He was ruled out due to a left tricep muscle strain, according to a statement released by Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Friday, October 11. Curiously, Bavuma’s soft tissue injury also kept him out of the latter stage of the ODI series against Ireland; this injury further compounds the rainbow nation’s problems.
An uncapped Dewald Brevis has been introduced by South Africa to the team to fill in for Bavuma. Remarkably, the skipper of the Proteas is anticipated to participate in the second Test, which is slated to begin on October 29 at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chaudhary Stadium.
For a Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi arrives.
Tall left-arm pacer Nandre Burger is another injured substitute for the forthcoming tour. Burger will miss the entire series due to a spinal stress fracture. The Western Province and CSA medical teams will be closely monitoring the player while he undergoes recovery. Board member Lungi Ngidi, an experienced seamen, has been called to replace him.

The South African team will arrive in Pretoria on Saturday for a practice session at the Centre of Excellence in advance of the tour. The session will go through Monday, after which they will travel to Asia for the planned Test matches.
