Tanzim Sakib of Bangladesh was selected for the T20 World Cup 2024 roster ahead of Mohammad Saifuddin, which caused much debate prior to the competition’s commencement. The supporters scrutinised the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) after the selection call was made.
Saifuddin appeared to be in greater form than Sakib, and he even outperformed Sakib in the most recent Bangladesh Premier League; therefore, fans questioned Sakib’s selection.
Sakib was chosen as the fourth pick in the team, behind Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Shoriful Islam, because the selectors believed that Sakib could be a more aggressive player.
Sakib’s performance in the most recent T20 World Cup match against South Africa proved that the board had faith in him. Tanzim Sakib grabbed three wickets and gave up eighteen runs in four overs as Bangladesh faced the Proteas, making him his team’s top wicket-taker.

Bangladesh restricted South Africa to 113 runs in the game; however, the team was unable to reach the objective and lost. Towhid Hridoy, a bowler from Bangladesh, spoke up in support of Sakib’s choice, highlighting his skill.
“We all know Sakib is very capable, so we trust him. He has bowled really well in the last few months and matches, and he has a very clear mind. He bowled really well today as well, and he changed the match, so yeah, that was a good decision for us (to trust Saakib),” Cricbuzz reported Hridoy as saying.
I’m prepared to perform anywhere. Tanzim Sakib
In addition, Tanzim Sakib spoke up regarding his performance versus South Africa. It was his responsibility to perform for the national team, the pacer implied, and he wasn’t attempting to prove anything regarding his selection.
“I don’t think about any level because I am ready to perform anywhere,” Sakib stated. “No, there was nothing like that (trying to justify my selection). My job is to perform, and whenever the selectors give me, I will perform there.”
