With the retirement of contemporary greats Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, former Pakistani bowler Tanvir Ahmed has expressed doubts about the future of Indian cricket, specifically their batting lineup. This statement is in response to India’s recent ODI series 0–2 thumping of Sri Lanka.
Experts and former players have criticised India’s performance following their defeat to the island nation, which marked their first loss in an ODI series since 1997. India’s batting exhibition was particularly dismal, with just captain Sharma displaying consistent form, even though they fielded most of their key players, with the exception of all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
Speaking, Ahmed expressed scepticism regarding the present generation of Indian batters’ capacity to uphold the elevated bar established by Sharma and Kohli. The former bowler underlined that with these two important players out of the picture, the Men in Blue’s batting might suffer relative to their bowling. Ahmed identified possible problems on difficult pitches.
“This batting lineup cannot be sustained in the future by any of the new batsmen in this Indian team, except for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma,” he stated on his YouTube channel.
“You can observe what will happen to the Indian batting lineup going forward. It might work out for the bowling lineup, but it will be tough for the batting order. This Indian hitting lineup lacks the life to bat in settings where the ball turns seams and swings, even though they might score runs in their home conditions on flat deliveries,” he continued.
Tanvir Ahmed says Pakistan would easily defeat India
Tanvir Ahmed further brazenly asserted that Pakistan would easily defeat India in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah. It appears that weaknesses in India’s batting have been made public during the recent series against Sri Lanka. The team found it difficult to chase down totals that, in Ahmed’s opinion, should have been well within reach in all three games. India lost the final One-Day International by a dismal 110 runs.

“Take stock of your own performances first, and then offer recommendations regarding Pakistan. Pakistan will easily defeat India if Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rohit Sharma do not participate,” Tanvir said.
