According to some speculations, Tamim Iqbal, the top-order batsman for Bangladesh, may be included in the commentary box for the two Test series that Bangladesh would play against India in India, starting on September 19, 2024.
The former captain has previously stated that he would like to commentate, and he demonstrated this interest by doing so during the second Test between Bangladesh and the Kiwis in 2023. He also participated as a special guest in the most recent Bangladesh Premier League match between the Chattogram Challengers and the Khulna Tigers.
Tamim has not played cricket since 2023, when he last pulled on the Bangladeshi jersey. This will be Tamim’s first time commentating an international game overseas if Star Sports, the host broadcasting channel for the next series, grants his request, according to a report from RTV News, a local Bangladeshi website.
Very unclear prospects for Tamim Iqbal
In a recent development, Faruque Ahmed, the recently appointed president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, has indicated that he would want to see Tamim return to the picture, or if not, to the board as a member.
Tamim’s announcement of her retirement came as a surprise to everyone. But during a meeting with former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the most successful opener for the Tigers to date decided to do a U-turn about his international future.
He was not allowed to participate in any of their 2023 Cricket World Cup matches, therefore he opted out of the competition owing to a disagreement with the management and selectors.
