In the forthcoming Ranji Trophy 2024–25 season, Tamil Nadu skipper Sai Kishore wants his team to play a positive style of cricket. On October 11, the semi-finalists from the previous year will take on Saurashtra in their first game of the season. The skipper has been pleased with the team’s preparations and believes they will perform well in the domestic season.
He also emphasized that there are high expectations for the team this year because six of their players were included in the Duleep Trophy. He continued by saying that although the players hold themselves to high standards, they don’t take on extra responsibility for the squad. The 27-year-old wants the group to perform well and concentrate on their task.
Our aim is to play a positive kind of cricket, and we have prepared well. Expectations are present all the time, both from the outside and from within. We had six competitors for the Duleep Trophy, and we had high expectations. However, we simply want to concentrate on our work,” cited Sai Kishore as saying.
Although Sai Kishore performed admirably as captain the previous season, several of his choices were later called into doubt.
For example, Kishore won the toss in the semi-final match against Mumbai and choose to bat first on a seam-friendly ground, which ended up costing him dearly. In a similar vein, the spinner stated that while he is still learning the tactical side of being a captain, he strives to be open and honest with all of the cricket players when it comes to management.
“Being a captain came naturally to me in terms of managing the players and being honest with them. I’ve worked on learning the few things I needed to know on the tactical front. Prior to the season, I have had conversations with a couple captains,” he said.
