Match 25 of the T20 World Cup 2024 saw India play the United States of America at the Nassau County Stadium in New York on June 12. India chose to field first after winning the toss. USA batsmen were utterly destroyed by Indian bowlers as they chose wickets for amusement during the powerplay. The lone bright spots were Steven Taylor and Nitish Kumar, who scored 24 and 27, respectively. India limited the USA to 110 runs because to Corey Anderson’s 15-run contribution and Arshdeep Singh’s four-for-four.
When the USA was chasing, Saurabh Netravalkar gave them a great start by dismissing Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the same over. Ali Khan destroyed Rishabh Pant after he put up a tough 18-run effort. Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav took it upon themselves to build up a 67-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Dube provided SKY with excellent support, scoring 31 off 35 balls, while SKY hit an undefeated 50 off 49. With a victory margin of seven wickets, India advanced to the Super 8 round.
Here are some highlights from the India vs. USA T20 World Cup game:
1. On the first delivery of the innings, Arshdeep Singh takes a wicket.
With the opening ball of the match, Arshdeep removed Shayan Jahangir, giving India a blazing start. The bowler set a new record for himself when he caught Jahangir dead in front of the wicket. The left-arm pacer made T20 World Cup history by being the first Indian bowler to take a wicket with the opening delivery.
2. Yogesh Yadav is dropped by Saurabh Netravalkar
With 44 runs scored, the top three Indian hitters were sent back to the hut by the USA, who dominated the chase. With Shivam Dube, Suryakumar formed a strong alliance and began his onslaught cautiously. Attempting to smash Van Schalkwyk over the infield, he was batting on 22. At the short third, Netravalkar positioned himself beneath the ball, only to let it drop at the last moment.
3. The USA was given five more runs.
When USA needed 35 runs off 30 balls to defeat India, they were given five penalty runs just as they were starting to gain the upper hand. This was the result of the hosts breaking the 60-second barrier three times during the game to begin a new over, and India began the 16th over with 81 runs rather than the 76 they had at the beginning of the over.

Good win for India. SKY’s mature 50 & fantastic bowling by the team, especially Arshdeep Singh was commendable 👏🏾 USA put up a good fight but it wasn’t their day today.

Netravalkar first gets Virat Kohli for golden duck and Rohit Sharma cheaply to captures memories for a life time. What a story to tell his grandchildren.
