On June 3, Namibia and Oman squared off in Match 3 of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. Having won the toss, Namibia decided to bowl first. Oman’s top three were sent back to the hut during the powerplay by Ruben Trumplemann, who destroyed their order. The respective totals for Zeeshan Maqsood, Khalid Kail, and Ayaan Khan were 22, 34, and 15 runs. Oman lost all of their wickets en route to a below-average 109 runs.
After losing Michael van Lingen on the second delivery, Nikolaas Davin and Jan Frylinck showed good batting discipline in chasing. The game was closer because to Frylinck’s 45 runs, which was the highest total of the encounter. Mehran Khan dominated Frylinck, who needed five points to win the last over. After Mehran successfully stopped the next five runs, the game entered Super Over. Since 2012, there hasn’t been a Super Over in the T20 World Cup.
The Super Over to start Namibia is owned by David Weise.
Namibia sent Gerhard Erasmus and David Weise in to bat first. Namibia felt victorious when the pair scored an incredible 21 runs off Bilal Khan. in response. Weise bowled some tight deliveries to limit Oman’s Zeeshan Maqsood and Aqib Ilyas. In the Super Over, the pair could only produce 10 runs, and Namibia easily won their opening match.

“We showed in the Super Over that runs can be scored if you take responsibility and evaluate the pitch correctly. David made it quite obvious in the changing room that he wanted to bowl the Super Over (while Wiese was bowling the Super Over). (After winning) I’m glad I broke through and won this tournament. The Namibian captain, Erasmus, stated during the post-match press conference, “We were very excited to come here and play in this competition; hopefully, we can continue this form.”
