In the current T20 World Cup, Afghanistan has performed incredibly well, winning three of their four group stage matches.
Though they lost badly by 104 runs in their most recent match against the West Indies, the Rashid Khan-led team must bounce back swiftly and rectify their problems before playing India at Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 20.
The team has generally benefited from strong starts from Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, but the middle order has not yet joined the fray. With 167 runs scored in four games, Gurbaz leads the competition in runs scored, while Zadran is fourth with 152 runs. Afghanistan’s problem is evident from the fact that Azmatuallah Omarzai, with just 63 runs, is the country’s third-highest scorer.
In order to advance to the semi-finals, the middle order must stop ghosting runs so far. Although it will be a challenging task to face strong Indian bowlers, many of the cricket players have participated in the IPL and should be familiar with the conditions.
Also read: Kuldeep Yadav is expected to be included in the playing XI, while Virat Kohli faces challenges in the net session against Khaleel Ahmed.
However, the team captained by Rohit Sharma hasn’t lost yet. Their penultimate match against Canada was cancelled due to weather, although they emerged victorious from their group stage matches against Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA. With a few exceptions, all the boxes are checked, so the team shouldn’t be overly concerned. As they haven’t made much of an impact but are both capable of changing the game at any time, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja will be the main focus.
Kuldeep Yadav is anticipated to return to the playing XI, although Jasprit Bumrah has been outstanding among bowlers. Another incredibly successful person is Axar Patel.
