On June 15, Canada and India will compete in their last group stage match at Central Broward Stadium.
Canada’s 2024 T20 World Cup campaign was similar to Uganda’s, consisting of two losses and one notable win (against Ireland). That being said, Canada’s performances have shown a noticeably higher level of competitiveness than Uganda’s. They would be working to put up another strong fight against the powerful Indians.
As for India, they won their first game against Ireland handily, but their next games presented more challenges to their tenacity and skill. Nevertheless, they stepped up to the plate and defeated USA and Pakistan to guarantee a Super Eight berth.
In the meantime, three days of intense rain are forecast for Florida, and the pitches have stayed covered—a condition that is unlikely to change. Five counties, including Broward, where the stadium is located, have declared states of emergency.
The curators would have to work a miracle to even look at the playing surface underneath the covers. Even though fans are still hopeful that the game will play out in its entirety, things don’t seem that clear. Due to bad weather, the opening game of the tournament between Nepal and Sri Lanka in Lauderhill on June 12 was called off.
