At the 2024 T20 World Cup, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka faced off in a highly anticipated match. On Saturday, June 8, at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, both teams squared off in game 15 of the tournament. When the match started, Sri Lanka lost the toss and elected to bat first.
Pathum Nissanka scored 47 runs in just 28 deliveries to give the team a strong start. Still, none of the other hitters were going to amount to much after the respectable boost. After Kusal Mendis left the game after scoring ten runs, Kamindu Mendis only managed four runs, while Dhananjaya de Silva contributed another twenty-one runs.
In addition, Charith Asalanka scored 19 runs, while Angelo Mathews scored 16. It was a great effort by Bangladesh to restrict Sri Lanka to a low score in the first inning.

The Bengal Tigers’ two standout bowlers in the first innings, both with three wickets, were Mustafizur Rahman and Rishad Hossain. Sri Lanka amassed 124/9 in the first innings thanks to two wickets taken by Taskin Ahmed and one by Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
With the intention of chasing the target of 125, Shanto’s team had a disastrous start when openers Tanzid Hasan and Soumya Sarkar left the game with three and no runs, respectively. With 36 runs in 38 deliveries, Litton Das steadied the Bangladeshi batting after a rough beginning.
Bangladesh pulled down the goal in 19 overs, winning the match by two wickets, thanks to Towhid Hridoy’s 40 runs in 20 deliveries and Mahmudullah’s 16 runs, which kept him undefeated.
With four wickets under his belt, Nuwan Thushara led Sri Lanka in wicket-taking. Even though Wanindu Hasaranga claimed two wickets and Dhananjaya de Silva and Matheesha Pathirana each scored one run, Sri Lanka was unable to cross the finish line.
