On Sunday, June 16, at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St. Lucia, the powerful nations of Australia (AUS) and Scotland (SCO) squared off in game 35 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The toss was lost, and Scotland elected to bat first to start the match.
During the T20I World Cup, Scotland’s Brandon McMullen recorded the fastest fifty.
While George Munsey scored 35 runs in 23 deliveries, opener Michael Jones was removed for just two runs, giving the team a poor start. Following a somewhat unsteady beginning, Scotland’s innings were stabilised by a blow from Brandon McMullen. In addition to Richie Berrington, who maintained his perfect record with a score of 42 runs in 31 balls, McMullen achieved the quickest fifty for his nation, scoring 60 runs in 44 deliveries. In addition, Matthew Cross scored eighteen runs, helping Scotland reach 180 runs in the opening half.
Glenn Maxwell collected the most wickets for Australia, taking two for the team. Moreover, Adam Zampa, Ashton Agar, and Nathan Ellis each claimed one wicket.
Australia wins all three games in the group stage of the T20 World Cup.
In an attempt to reach the goal, Australia lost the experienced David Warner wicket for just one run very early on. But Travis Head, who maintained his outstanding form, scored 68 runs off of 49 deliveries, steadily bringing his team closer to the goal.
