James Neesham, a New Zealander who is one of the most influential and devastating batters in the game’s shorter formats, made a lasting impression in his maiden appearance in Season 2 of Zim Afro T10. In the chase against the Cape Town Samp Army, the New Zealander helped his team, the Harare Bolts, escape a tight situation by scoring 30 from 16 to secure an exciting victory on the first day of play.
Neesham, who is accustomed to high pressure circumstances at the top level, commented on the knock and the victory, saying, “The atmosphere was good.” Playing in front of our home crowd is always advantageous, so maybe that will work to our advantage going ahead. The dressing room is in a pleasant mood. However, since the tournament is still extremely early, we’re keeping our feet on the ground and anticipating tomorrow’s match.
The key to T10 is to attack when the opportunity arises and make an impact. We were fortunate today that there was no true run rate pressure during the chase thanks to our bowlers keeping the target low,” he continued.
Neesham is no stranger to the T10 format; he is well-known for both his clever social media posts and his cricket skills. The New Zealander clarified that although the format faces difficulties, he still sees room for growth.
The shortest part of T10 is the most difficult. He stated, “You just have to go out and be aggressive and hope it comes off. There’s no chance to find form or fix problems.”
“I believe that T10 is an excellent method to promote cricket. The festival-like ambiance makes it ideal for playing in non-traditional cricket-playing nations. In my opinion, it is starting to resemble the global rugby Sevens series, in which matches are held every weekend in various cities throughout the globe. That would be fantastic.

It makes sense that Neesham and the Harare Bolts want to win everything. “So far, the Zim Afro T10 seems great,” he added. Although this is my first visit, the games have been excellent, and I’m forward to watch how it grows.
