The third and final Twenty20 international match between India and New Zealand ended in a draw. Rain put an end to the chase for the visitors when they were on 75/4 after nine overs with the hosts New Zealand having scored 160 runs in 19.4 overs. As a result of the scores being tied according to the Duckworth-Lewis method, the match was declared a draw, and India emerged victorious in the series by a score of 1-0. In the presentation ceremony that took place after the match, Suryakumar Yadav stated that he was “really happy with the way things went,” adding that while he “would have loved to have a full game,” he was “glad we got the series win.”
At one point, India was struggling at 21/3, but Suryakumar Yadav and his skipper, Hardik Pandya, put together a partnership worth 39 runs, which allowed the visitors to pass the 50-run mark in 4.4 overs.
“The weather is not something that we can control. Even if the pressure is constantly present, there is no fun to be had when there is none “said Suryakumar Yadav.
The “Player of the Series” award went to Suryakumar Yadav because he scored 124 runs across two innings, including a century that he scored in the second Twenty20 International that took place in Mount Maunganui and contributed to India taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
“I am just enjoying my batting and not carrying any baggage,” told Suryakumar Yadav.
The 32-year-old will also be pivotal for India in the one-day international series that will begin on Friday and will consist of three matches.
“Although it may take some additional time, the strategy and goals will remain the same. These things are outside of our sphere of influence. We can just express ourselves, “added Suryakumar Yadav.
After India’s success in the Twenty20 series, the team will look on Shikhar Dhawan to lead them to victory in the One-Day International series.
