Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian aren’t amateur hitters, but they’re also not seasoned. They batted well in the middle for India A against India D in the second round of the 2024 Duleep Trophy in Anantapur.
Mulani had already stabilised the ship by scoring 31 of his 89 runs when Kotian arrived at the crease with India D on top. Staying united, they extinguished India A’s bowlers’ fire. Kotian’s 12th half-century was more aggressive, seizing on anything loose to exhaust the opposition.
As a member of the India C team, Suryakumar Yadav recently experienced a setback due to a hand injury he sustained during the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian team’s T20I captain and Mumbai senior, praised the two for their 91-run stand for the seventh wicket on X.
Shams mulani and Tanush kotian 👏👌.
So so proud of you both.
Crisis men for Mumbai and now for INDA in the Duleep trophy. Enjoy the journey bhai log ❤️— Surya Kumar Yadav (@surya_14kumar) September 12, 2024
Due to his absence at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru to tend to his ailment, the explosive hitter was not present for the Duleep Trophy’s opening round.

He correctly identified the two India A heroes as Mumbai’s “crisis men” in his tweet. They not only excelled with the ball in the previous Ranji Trophy, but they also proved to be quite valuable with the bat. Mulani and Kotian were two notable examples of their significant batsmanship; they scored 54 and 120* in their team’s second innings against Baroda and 30 and 56 in Mumbai’s first and second innings against Kerala, respectively.
