Suryakumar Yadav loses to Nathan Lyon in his Test debut in India vs. Australia in 2023.

The Australians appear to be battling back with the ball after a lacklustre showing with the bat on the first day of the Test in Nagpur. As Australia looks for a solution, Team India’s captain Rohit Sharma led from the front and struck a century for the team.

Suryakumar Yadav, who was making his Test debut, was put in to bat after Virat Kohli was dismissed. However, the 32-year-debut old’s was brief as he was dismissed by Nathan Lyon after only getting 8 runs. Lyon took the opening wicket of the game, while stunning debutant Todd Murphy was the second bowler from the team to grab a wicket.

Surya was a touch early to the front foot to defend Lyon’s delivery to him because of how quickly it turned in. As he was bowled out, the ball slipped through the gates. Surya exceeded everyone’s expectations because of his prodigious performance in white-ball cricket.

Before the first Test began, there was a lot of discussion on the starting XI that India would use against Australia. Many seasoned cricket players supported the 23-year-old Shubman Gill to open the batting alongside skipper Rohit Sharma since KL Rahul could bat in the middle order.

-form Shubman Gill, starting with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma. Both choices were unsuccessful as KL Rahul was out for 20 runs and Suryakumar was out for 8.

Many sporting icons, including Sachin Tendulkar and Ajay Jadeja, supported the inclusion of Surya in the starting XI; Jadeja also stated that the 32-year-old had received what he was due by being chosen. Surya appears to be well-suited for playing Test cricket, according to Tendulkar.
