Ahead of the second qualifying match between the Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL 2023, the flamboyant batsman Suryakumar Yadav discussed his style of play. Notably, the cricketer has been phenomenal for the five-time champions in the current season, scoring 544 runs in 15 matches, and is presently seventh in the race for the IPL Orange Cap. The Mumbai-born batsman began the season slowly, but as the tournament progressed, he improved and played outstanding cricket.
Suryakumar Yadav, in discussing his strategy for the shortest format, stated that he prefers to deal with boundaries, or at least in singles and doubles, as it ultimately relieves a great deal of pressure. As he is not a power hitter who can hit massive sixes, the 32-year-old stated that he likes to back himself regardless of the situation and frequently performs according to the field.
“I always look forward to batting. I am always prepared and in the dugout, waiting. People sometimes ask me why I am sprinting to the crease. This is my method for loosening up. I just want to convey myself and have fun while playing. If I have the opportunity to smash a boundary on the first or second ball, I do not pass it up. People assert that T20 consists of sixes.
During the course of a match, however, there are numerous instances of pressure. I consider methods to alleviate pressure on myself and my partner. I accomplish this by establishing limits. More often than not, I strike the boundaries. “It is essential to play intelligently,” Suryakumar Yadav was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Additionally, Suryakumar Yadav emphasized that one of his greatest assets is his ability to play on the ground. Therefore, he sticks to his game plan regardless of the match’s circumstances. In addition to hitting boundaries, the speedy batter emphasized the significance of singles and doubles in placing pressure on the opposition.
“I intend to consistently nail fours and sixes. Or else, singles or doubles. My pastime has always been this one. I play based on the field conditions. I’m not a strong striker. I am unable to strike sixes between 100 and 120 meters. I am aware of the location of my runs because they are on the ground. The batter added, “I am certain of this and will stand by myself regardless of the circumstance.”
Notably, in order to qualify for their seventh final in IPL history, the Rohit Sharma-led team will rely on Suryakumar, who is currently in phenomenal form. As the pitch at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is optimized for batters’ success, he will eventually be able to play a more aggressive style of cricket there.
