After leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, Rahul Dravid ended his time as coach. Despite having played for the Indian team for sixteen years, the former captain of the squad was unable to hold the ICC trophy. In the 2007 World Cup, he served as India’s captain; nevertheless, the team was eliminated in the group stages. Dravid’s two-slide talk prior to the final gave the Indian squad a new perspective as they advanced to the T20 World Cup 2024 finals.
Suryakumar Yadav revealed that Dravid created a PowerPoint showing that the combined total of T20I matches played by seniors and youngsters was more than 800 matches. The next slide listed how many Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) the support personnel had participated in. The former Indian wicketkeeper-batter was the only player to have played in T20Is for the national side. According to Suryakumar Yadav , the veteran was using this as a means of indicating that players, not staff, have greater experience managing the game.
“He displayed a graph that listed all of the Indian team’s T20I matches, from Yashasvi Jaiswal (the youngest player) to Virat bhai. There were more than 800 in that number. Then, as reported by HT, he displayed a second slide with the total amount of games that all of the coaching staff—including Rahul bhai—had played, which was one.

“You are the best judge here to make the right decision at the right time,” stated David to us. Thus, let us handle everything else while you go out and enjoy your game,” he continued.
Rahul Dravid has a great finish to his coaching career.
In 2021, the 51-year-old assumed leadership of the Indian squad as Head Coach. Under his leadership, the squad advanced to the 2022 T20 World Cup semifinals, the 2023 World Test Championship Finals, and the 2023 World Cup Finals. However, his big break came on the day he was fired as Indian coach—India had not won an ICC championship in eleven years. The search is underway to choose the next head coach of India, and rumours indicate that Gautam Gambhir is the front-runner.
