On Saturday, SunRisers Hyderabad announced that they will be moving on in the forthcoming seasons of the Indian Premier League with Brian Lara at the helm of their coaching staff (IPL). Tom Moody, who led the group as head coach in the most recent iteration of the competition and led them to an eighth-place finish in the points table, has been let go from his position with the company.
In addition, Lara spent the previous season working as a strategic advisor and batting coach with the SunRisers Hyderabad.
On Saturday, the official Twitter account for SunRisers Hyderabad tweeted out the following announcement: “The cricketing legend Brian Lara will be our head coach for the forthcoming #IPL seasons.”
Moody’s time with the Sunrisers between 2013 and 2019 was a productive one: during that period, the team qualified for the playoffs five times and won the championship in 2016.
With a record of six wins and eight losses during this season of the Indian Premier League, Sunrisers finished in eighth place.
