Dale Steyn, a former South Africa player, is thrilled to learn that Gautam Gambhir would be leading India as their coach. Gambhir was chosen for the head coach role after a series of conversations and interviews, following the conclusion of Rahul Dravid’s stint following the T20 World Cup.
In the IPL and on the international cricket pitch, Steyn, who has faced Gambhir, praised the southpaw and identified as a fan. The former bowler went on to say that he admires Gambhir’s aggressiveness and feels that the game of cricket needs more players who are willing to take risks and give it their all in order to win.
Gambhir’s off-field traits contrast greatly from his on-field one, according to Steyn. He is a gentleman off the ground, the 41-year-old said, calling him a street-smart cricketer.
“I think Gautam Gambhir is fantastic. I adore his aggressiveness; he’s one of the few Indians I’ve faced off against who actually kind of hit back. I enjoy it. He’s probably going to take it into the changing room. Steyn told Star Sports that players who are a little bit more aggressive and who play the game a little bit harder are needed in international cricket, not just in India.

“Everyone plays against one another in the leagues, and we get along well.” I admire Gambhir’s combination of fierceness and gentlemanliness when playing. He will be a tremendous asset to the Indian team since he is a streetwise and intelligent cricket player, he continued.
The Indian team will benefit greatly from Gautam Gambhir’s addition: Jacques Kallis
The former all-rounder Jacques Kallis, who played with Gambhir in the Kolkata Knight Riders dressing room, too showered Gambhir with accolades. The 48-year-old thinks the Indian squad would benefit greatly from having his former captain enter the coaching ranks and was pleased to see it happen.
It’s great to see Gauti stepping into the coaching role. He is incredibly intelligent for a cricket player. Fire is what he’ll deliver. loves to play with aggression in the game. He’ll add that extra something, and the guys will pick up a lot from him. He will bring a great deal of value to the Indian team since he has a lot to offer, said Kallis.
