Steve Smith rejects rivalry discussions with Virat Kohli by saying, "We just go out and play the game."

In spite of the controversies surrounding the Nagpur pitch, the highly anticipated Border Gavaskar series is just a few hours away, and both teams cannot wait to get started. Virat Kohli and Steve Smith, two batters who defined eras, will face off against one other in the forthcoming series, but the Australian batting ace hushed any idea of a rivalry with the former Indian captain.

Former Australian captain Steve Smith, who is regarded as one of this generation’s top red-ball cricketers, has a stellar record against India. He denied having a rivalry with India’s great batsman Virat Kohli, saying that his attention is on improving his own batting and leading his team to series victory.

“I don’t believe so, no. He could believe there is, but I’m not sure. I’m not sure if I definitely feel like, though. We simply go out and compete while attempting to do our best for our team. That’s the major goal for me, to maybe score some runs along the way to help us succeed. I don’t feel like I’m batting against anyone or doing anything similar, and I’m not attempting to evaluate my performance in relation to any other batters. Smith stated in an interview with the Hindustan Times, “I just want to go out there and do my job and hopefully help the team succeed.

One of the most entertaining batters to watch in the world when in form is Kohli: Smith
The Australian hitter praised Kohli for his capacity to step up his game against the bowlers even under difficult circumstances. The 34-year-series old’s against Australia should be calm, he believed, improving the visitors’ chances of winning the series.

“I believe that the pressure he applies to the bowlers by taking them on is incredibly effective. I believe that is a very strong suit of his. He scored runs everywhere he went. He can score from either side of the wicket. He has a long history of excellence as a player in all game types and is patient when necessary. So let’s hope he doesn’t score a lot in this series for us. But you know, he’s one of the most entertaining batters to watch in the world when he’s on,” added Smith.
