While visiting the reputable London-based architectural firm BDP Patterns, Mohsin Naqvi gave his approval to the renovation plans for the aforementioned locations.
In February and March of 2025, three stadiums are scheduled to host the ICC Champions Trophy. The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, National Stadium in Karachi, and Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore are on the list.
Speaking to reporters at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi, the chairperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), openly acknowledged that the country was ill-prepared to host the Champions Trophy in 2025, a major International Cricket Council event, and he urged a swift renovation of the aforementioned locations.
“The stadiums here and abroad differ greatly from one another. Every stadium we have is not up to international standards,” Naqvi said, as reported by India Today.
It’s interesting to remember that Naqvi went to the famous 27,000-seat stadium in Lahore to document the status of the suggested stadium improvements in advance of the 50-over match that Pakistan will host the following year.
Our top goal is to furnish stadiums with the necessities: Mohsin Naqvi
Despite having a long history of cricket, Pakistan hasn’t exactly been known for providing cutting edge facilities in terms of stadium infrastructure.
But Naqvi was the one who gave the assurance that the team working on the projects would guarantee that the final result will be as polished as possible, in coordination with the PCB.
“Day and night, the Frontier Works Organisation crew is at work. We’re going to build some of the greatest stadiums on the planet. Our top goal is to provide basic amenities in stadiums,” Naqvi continued.
One other thing to keep in mind is that the PCB, which had allocated about PKR 17 billion for the project, made the final choice to renovate the stadiums. Dawn stated that ICC representatives had visited all three venues and determined they were suitable to hold the matches.
