Match 11 of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 took place on October 9 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai between South Africa Women (SA-W) and Scotland Women (SCO-W). After winning the toss, South Africa decided to bat. Taking advantage of the powerplay, Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits built up a 64-run partnership for the first wickets, with Wolvaardt departing after scoring 40 off 27.
After finishing her brief visit with 11 off 13, Anneke Bosch and Tazmin Britts both scored 43 off 35 balls. In just 18 overs, Marizanne Kapp’s quickfire 43 off 24 deliveries helped the South African women achieve the 15-run threshold. South Africa scored 166 runs off just 13 balls, but Sune Luus was unable to take advantage of the last overs and managed to stay undefeated at 18 off 13. This cost them five wickets.
Every bowler for Scotland, excluding Abtaha Maqsood, claimed a single wicket. They lost wickets quickly after they came out to pursue the ball. Just twenty runs were scored by their top order, which included Saskia Horley, Sarah Bryce, Kathryn Bryce, and Ailsa Lister. The Proteas’ domination also caused the middle order to collapse, as none of the batters except Katherine Fraser scored more than ten runs.
South Africa wins with a significant NRR.
They lost every wicket in their 17.5 overs of batting and could only muster 86 runs, allowing South Africa to win by a commanding 80-run margin. Nonkululeko Mlaba shone for the Proteas, taking three wickets, with Chloe Tryon and Nadine de Klerk contributing two apiece. Because of her 43-run knock, which included six timely boundaries, Kapp was chosen Player of the Match.

“We did discuss it (NRR) before the game; we simply believed that scoring a lot of runs would give us the best chance to win. After the game, Wolvaardt stated, “We wanted to show what we are about and be brutal with the ball.”
