Sources close to the situation have revealed that Sourav Ganguly, a former president of the BCCI, will be rejoining the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the role of Director of Cricket for the Delhi Capitals during the upcoming season, which will begin in April.
The former captain of India, who resigned his position as president of the BCCI in October, will also be responsible for overseeing all of the cricket-related aspects of the club, including the International Twenty20 team Dubai Capitals and the South African Twenty30 team Pretoria Capitals.
“Yes, Sourav will be rejoining Delhi Capitals as of this year,” the commentator said. The deliberations and preparations for the logistics are finished.
“He has worked with the franchise, shares a good comfort level with owners,” an IPL source watching events told PTI on the condition of anonymity, adding that “if he would have worked in IPL, it would have always been with DC.”
During the time that Ganguly spent with the Delhi Capitals club in 2019, he served as the team’s mentor.
It is well knowledge that the most recent auction picks made by the Delhi Capitals have the footprints of both Ganguly and head coach Ricky Ponting.
