Past India Team India’s head coach for the upcoming series against Ireland has been named as Sitanshu Kotak. The normal coaching staff for India has taken a break due to big events like the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup coming up later this year. Rahul Dravid, the team’s head coach, Paras Mhambrey, and Vikram Rathour, the bowling and batting coaches, won’t be helping out.
A three-match Twenty20 International series against Ireland will begin on August 18, 2023. Initially, the team was supposed to have an interim head coach in VVS Laxman, the director of the National Cricket Academy (NCA). But the formerly renowned batter has opted to stay in Bengaluru for the Emerging camp.
While Dravid and company are off duty, Sitanshu Kotak, the NCA’s batting coach, will fill in.
Kotak has previous experience in the position as the A-side’s head coach having held the position for a period of years.
One of the biggest sighs of relief the Men in Blue may have experienced during their injury woes came when Jasprit Bumrah was found to be totally fit to play and chosen as the team’s captain for the T20Is against Ireland.
The renowned pacer had been out of action for nearly a year, but it appears like he has returned just in time as Team India’s ODI season is ready to start a crucial three-month stretch. The Indian squad could also want to keep an eye on Prasidh Krishna and consider bringing him along as a backup for the Asia Cup.
Bumrah will be in charge of an underwhelming team for the Ireland series. A number of young players made the squad after showcasing their talent in the Indian Premier League 2023. A number of players looking to make a comeback into the senior team will also have the chance to make their imprint for a bright future throughout the three-game series.
