The upcoming Duleep Trophy, which is scheduled to start on September 5, has freed India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja from the Team B squad. Although the cause of the same is unknown, he is still eligible to be selected for the next two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Pacers Umran Malik and Mohammed Siraj will also be absent from the local competition because of illness.
In Team B, Gaurav Gupta will take over for Umran, and in Team C, Navdeep Saini will take over for Siraj.
The BCCI, or Board of Control for Cricket in India, has not yet revealed Jadeja’s successor for the competition. Notably, Umran had dengue but had just lately resumed his practice. He said he is totally focused on performing well in the Duleep Trophy following his recuperation while he was training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will not be able to compete in the event, though, as it is thought that his health has declined.
Two locations—M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh—will host the competition. Among the players participating in the competition are Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, and Kuldeep Yadav.
