The highly anticipated Buchi Babu 2024 competition marked the beginning of the domestic cricket season. As the selectors will be watching the performances, a few elite Indian cricket players are participating in the highly anticipated tournament in an attempt to eventually break into the Test squad. For the gorgeous Mumbai-born batter Shreyas Iyer, though, things are a little different.
The top cricket regulating body of India, the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), has notably taken some strict measures recently due to the dearth of great cricketers playing domestic cricket. Iyer’s central contract was terminated as a result, and he had to face the wrath of the Indian board. Iyer made it a point to compete in Tamil Nadu’s main competition, though, after much back and forth over this matter, hoping to impress the board and secure his central contract back in addition to returning to playing Tests for India.
Tuesday, August 27, saw an exciting bowling change call by Mumbai and TNCA XI captain Sarfaraz Khan, which prompted the batter to roll his arms. Interestingly enough, Shreyas Iyer, who often bowls leg spin, demonstrated his off-spin bowling abilities with a unique twist. He then surprised everyone by mimicking West Indies spinner Sunil Narine, a teammate of his from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

In the ninetieth over of the game, the Mumbaikar was observed concealing himself and holding the ball behind his back. He then initiated a follow-up runup and delivered the ball using a similar motion to Narine’s. Nevertheless, Shreyas Iyer let up seven runs in his over and did not get any wickets.

Remarkably, Iyer leads the KKR team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). About the game, after 90 overs, TNCA XI finished Day 1 with 294/5 on the board.
