On Tuesday, October 17, at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, Match 15 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will feature a match between South Africa and the Netherlands. The Dutch scored a respectable 245/8 in the 43-over game that was postponed due to rain after being given the opportunity to bat first by the South African skipper Temba Bavuma.
They didn’t start off well, though, as they were in trouble at 82/5 after 20.2 overs. In order to help his team escape danger early on, captain Scott Edwards produced a brilliant innings of 78* off 69 with the aid of eleven fours and a six.
Aryan Dutt spectacular cameo performance of 23* off 9 also contributed to the Netherlands’ score exceeding 240.
The 20-year-old defeated Lungi Ngidi and Gerald Coetzee by hitting three sixes in his innings. He hit maximums from Ngidi in back-to-back overs before slamming Coetzee for a huge six that soared far into the night sky and landed far back into the middle of the wicket stands.

As openers Vikramjit Singh (2 off 16) and Max ODowd (18 off 25) left the field with just 24 runs scored after 7.1 overs earlier in the day, Netherlands didn’t have a good start. After 27 overs, Bas de Leede’s side was in trouble at 112/6 thanks to the cheap departures of Colin Ackerman (13 off 25), Teja Nidamanuru (20 off 25), Sybrand Engelbrecht (19 off 37), and Bas de Leede (2 off 7). However, the Netherlands were able to reach 245/8 with to some late fireworks from skipper Edwards, Roelof van der Merwe (29 off 19), and Aryan Dutt.
In the chase, South Africa loses early wickets.
South Africa had a terrible start to the second innings and were 89/5 after 18.5 overs. For the Proteas, cheap departures were made by Temba Bavuma (16 off 31), Quinton de Kock (20 off 22), Heinrich Klaasen (28 off 28), Rassie van der Dussen (4 off 7) and Aiden Markram (1 off 3). In his first six over, Van der Merwe took two wickets and gave up 25 runs.
