Jaker Ali was called up by Bangladeshi selectors for the two-match series against India, which is the only change to their team from the Pakistan Tests. There was a lot of buzz when Shoriful Islam, who has played 11 Test matches for Bangladesh and taken 25 wickets, was dropped from the series. But selector Hannan Sarkar clarified that Jaker was chosen because the pacer is presently dealing with a groin issue.
Jaker, meanwhile, has participated in 49 first-class games and averaged 44.91 while scoring 2862 runs. Hannan gave an explanation for why they chose the keeper-batter over a pacer, saying that they evaluated all of the possibilities and examined the circumstances. He continued by saying that the selectors believed that having one more batter will benefit the Indian squad more than having one more seamer.

“We choose Jaker Ali after taking the circumstances and opponents into account. We lost one pacer for the India trip, despite having taken five in Pakistan. The Daily Star cited Hannan as saying, “We felt that we needed an extra batter in the middle order for a better team combination if we consider the conditions and opponents.”
We also considered Shahadat Hossain: Hannan Sarkar
Hannan clarified that Shahadat Hossain was taken into consideration by the selectors for the series against India, but the panel was unconvinced by his recent performance. He pointed out that Australia and Pakistan supported Jaker since Shahadat struggled to maintain rhythm during the four-day contests. The selector did, however, reassure that Shahadat is part of BCB’s future plans.
“We had Dipu [Shahadat Hossain] in mind for everything. However, you were aware that Dipu participated in each of those games because Shakib [Al Hasan] and Mushfiqur [Rahim] were not present. He didn’t play particularly well, but he also didn’t play poorly, in my opinion.

We have considered the performance as of late. Dipu participated in four-day games in Pakistan and Australia. He lacks rhythm. When a player plays international cricket, form is crucial. We have plans for Dipu in the future. Now, he’s getting ready to participate in the National Cricket League (NCL),” Hannan continued.
