As part of the commentary crew for the ongoing ILT20 in Dubai, former cricket greats Virender Sehwag and Shoaib Akhtar recently engaged in some lighter banter, providing fans with an insight into their friendship. Sharing a video of their playful banter on social media, Shoaib Akhtar gave Sehwag’s take on his notorious long run-up from his playing days.
“Viru bhai @virendersehwag, hamararay pyaray ko kitna intezar kerwata tha, mera batatay huay ko.” And he believes that was a major diversion,” Shoaib Akhtar wrote on “X.”
Hamaray pyaray Viru bhai @virendersehwag yeh batatay huay k mera lamba run up ko kitna intezar kerwata tha.

Exuberant batsman Virender Sehwag recalled, in a lighthearted manner, “I would keep looking down, knowing that it would take him 10-15 seconds to finish his run-up.”
I wonder if the extended run-up distracted him, Akhtar inquired. Virender Sehwag’s reply, “A lot of thoughts would run in mind,” was both perceptive and humorous. Will he land a beamer on my head or strike my toes? He will make contact somewhere.
Virender Sehwag is a cricket legend in India who has had a successful international career. He has played in 104 Test matches, 251 ODIs, and 19 T20Is. He has made a lasting impression and is one of the rare players to score triple hundreds in Tests and double hundreds in ODIs. His status as a cricketer has been cemented by his aggressive style and multiple records, which include the fastest triple century in Test cricket.
However, Akhtar made his mark in cricket history and became renowned as the “Rawalpindi Express” due to his lightning-fast pace. In addition to being a member of Pakistan’s side that won the 2009 T20 World Cup, his Test and ODI records also attest to his significant career. Fans are exposed to not only cricket knowledge but also the humorous side of these iconic players as these cricket giants exchange stories and laughs in the commentary box.
