Aakash Chopra, a cricket analyst, praised Shivam Dube for his outstanding all-around performance in India’s first Twenty20 international match triumph over Afghanistan.
Dube’s outstanding performance has generated talk about his possible inclusion in India’s T20 World Cup squad because he has contributed with the bat and the ball.
Analyzing Dube’s effect on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said,
“Ati Sundaram Shivam. In just two overs, he claimed a wicket and amassed a strike rate of 150 while scoring 60 runs off 40 balls. Shivam Dube has reaffirmed his position. He bats well for CSK in the Indian Premier League and performs a great job batting in this World Cup year.”
Due in part to Dube’s figures of 1/9 in two overs, Afghanistan was restricted to 158/5, which allowed India to chase the target successfully. With six wickets and 15 deliveries remaining, the left-hander then demonstrated his batting skill by hitting an undefeated sixty off forty deliveries, leading India to victory.
Chopra praised Dube for taking the chance and emphasized how important it is that he might help India achieve its T20 World Cup goals.
“I thought Dube wasn’t receiving appropriate treatment. We had previously discussed how you dropped him against South Africa and forced him to miss the five games against Australia, but now that he gets a chance, he has seized it and done so to the fullest,” Chopra added.
Dube’s road has been difficult; he was included in the Indian side for the T20I series against Australia following the ODI World Cup in 2023, but he did not play. Dube returned strongly for the current series against Afghanistan, grasping the chance after being left out of the South Africa tour. Dube’s batting maturity and ability to finish the game particularly pleased Chopra.
“He played with remarkable maturity when batting, even though he had already taken a wicket with the ball. He brought the game to a close. That’s a crucial one, in my opinion, to finish the game, Chopra remarked.
If Hardik Pandya is unable to perform the duty due to whatever reason, he can do it nonetheless: Chopra
Chopra went on to say that since Dube can bowl as well, he ought to be given chances. If Hardik Pandya is unable to perform or is unavailable for any reason, the all-rounder can step in, according to his statement.
“Hardik Pandya is capable of doing the work in the event that he is unfit or unavailable. Shivam Dube was the player of the match.
Shivam Dube was the most impressive performer,” Chopra said.
As the T20 World Cup draws near, all eyes are on Dube, who has positioned himself as a potent backup for Hardik Pandya, demonstrating his mettle on the international arena with a superb performance against Afghanistan. In an attempt to bolster his chances of being selected for India’s T20 World Cup squad, the cricket community is looking forward to his time with the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2024.
