franchise controlled by Royals Sports Group Prior to the IPL 2024 season, the Rajasthan Royals have announced that former New Zealand bowler Shane Bond has joined the squad as both an assistant coach and the team’s new fast bowling coach.
One of the best fast bowlers of the modern era, Shane Bond previously held the position of bowling coach for his country’s side from 2012 to 2015, guiding them to the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup final. The Mumbai franchise in the IPL hired him later that year, and he made a key contribution to their success in helping them win four titles in nine seasons.
Many fast bowlers, including well-known figures like Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell McClenaghan, Trent Boult, and others, developed become T20 specialists under his direction. At the Royals, the 48-year-old will reunite with the latter and maybe strive to bolster the present core of fast bowlers, which includes Prasidh Krishna, Navdeep Saini, Sandeep Sharma, Kuldeep Sen, Obed McCoy, KM Asif, and Kuldip Yadav.
The director of cricket for the Royals, Kumar Sangakkara, welcomed the veteran from New Zealand to the team and stated, “Shane is one of the finest fast bowlers in contemporary cricket, and he brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge having taught some of the best in the business.
