Renowned all-rounder Deandra Dottin of the West Indies had declared her retirement from international cricket, citing an unfavourable team environment. Nevertheless, she changed her mind and vowed to pledge devotion to the team a few months before the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup.
Head coach of the West Indies women’s team Shane Deitz praised Dottin’s performance history and the deliberate efforts being made to create a positive culture as important factors in the squad’s development.
“She is currently performing at the WCPL, and her record is incredible.” Off the pitch, we’ve been putting a lot of effort into developing the leadership group and team culture. “Deitz, as cited by India Today, said that Deandra and the other players joining the team will all be welcomed in the same way.
She has spent the last week at the camp and is a true fit: Shane Deitz
Apart from enumerating the multitude of abilities that Dottin possessed, Deitz gave a progress report on how she was integrating into the unit thus far.
“She has a terrific record on the pitch and provides us with versatility through smart batting and power hitting, as I mentioned earlier. She can bowl death overs and different forms of bowling in between, and when it comes to bowling the big overs, she really rises up and is a complete winner. She is also an amazing fielder. She arrived to the camp a week ago and immediately felt at home. We’re excited to have her back in the team and her contributions throughout the World Cup,” Deitz continued.
