Shams Mulani dismissed Devdutt Padikkal with a deft delivery on the fourth day of the Duleep Trophy Match 3 between India A and India D. The left-arm spinner took him for just one run in the fourth innings, but the southpaw, who was playing for India D, had found his rhythm with a 92-run hammer in the opening session.
Delivery skidding onto the pads was a problem for Padikkal. Because his off-side play dominated his run-scoring in the first inning, he remained cautious. Day 4 was supposed to be the same for him, but as the game progresses, Indian pitches change colour and Mulani managed to turn and bounce as the ball slipped into the gap Padikkal had created in an attempt to work it on the off-side.
Here’s the video of Padikkal’s dismissal:

Devdutt Padikkal snubbed from Bangladesh series
Padikkal was left out of the Indian team that was supposed to play the Bangladesh series. Ranji Trophy 2024 saw the batter show off his mettle, scoring 556 runs at an incredible average of 92.67 in just six innings, including three hundreds and a career-high 193 against Punjab.

The 24-year-old had a respectable Maharaja Trophy 2024 season, amassing 253 runs at an average of 25.30. On the other hand, his strikeout rate of 140.56 was quite favourable for a middle-order hitter. In his first Test series against England in March of this year, the Karnataka batsman impressed. In the opening five-test innings, he batted at number four and amassed 65 runs.
