Shakib Al Hasan, On July 16 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh outperformed Afghanistan by six wickets to win the second T20I and the two-match series 2-0. The three-match ODI series was lost by the hosts 1-2, although the multi-format series started with a one-off Test that the hosts won.
Shakib Al Hasan the captain of Bangladesh, believes that their first T20I series victory against Afghanistan will provide them a significant boost before the 2023 Asia Cup.
Around 80 to 90 percent of the cricketers from this T20 group will play in ODIs, which is a tremendous confidence boost for us before the Asia Cup, according to Shakib, who was reported by Cricketmood
Shakib Al Hasan thought his team was doing well in the T20 format but acknowledged they needed to be more flexible going forward.
The 36-year-old all-rounder also said that a number seven batsman should do the same duties as openers, adding that if everyone can bat wherever, it will be simpler to adapt when presented with challenging conditions. The captain claims that regardless of the circumstances, the bowlers’ performance remains the same.
Afif Hossain, Bangladesh’s seventh batter, was moved up the order in the second game, which was played in the rain. Afif (24) did a commendable job, scoring 67 runs in the first partnership with Litton Das (35), which enabled Bangladesh to defeat one of the strongest bowling attacks in the limited overs format.
“The team benefits when there is flexibility. In T20 cricket, a number seven may be required to perform the same duties as openers. Depending on how long the openers bat (15 overs), he might also have to bowl the following five over. Everyone will find it easier to adapt when faced with a challenging situation if they can bat wherever. For bowlers who play in various scenarios, the same holds true.
“The five or six bowlers that we have… our goal is to make things simple for batsmen, and we always aim to do that. With the mix we currently have, pacers and spinners are now engaging in healthy rivalry, which is advantageous for the squad, the captain continued.
