For the American franchise T20 league’s second season, Shakib Al Hasan has signed with the Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR), a significant addition.
With the likes of Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Jason Roy, Spencer Johnson, and Unmukt Chand among others, LAKR has maintained crucial players, therefore Shakib will be settling into a team full of international and Twenty20 talents. Recent entrants Adithya Ganesh, Derone Davis, Matthew Tromp, and Cirne Dry are among the local talent pool of LAKR.
The group that controls LAKR also owns the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the UAE’s ILT20, the Trinbago Knight Riders men and women in the CPL, and the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL, for whom Shakib played nine seasons.
In a statement, the Knight Riders organisation reiterated Shakib’s long-standing relationship with the team, noting his crucial role in their IPL championship seasons of 2012 and 2014, and expressed their excitement for his July return to the Purple and Gold.
Naturally, Shakib Al Hasan has a long history with the Knight Riders family. He played for KKR in a number of seasons, including our two championship [winning] campaigns in 2012 and 2014.
We’re excited to see him appear in purple and gold with the LA Knight Riders in July,” the organisation said in a statement.
The MLC player draft was place on March 21, 2024, and a second one is scheduled for June 16 to allow the six teams to complete their rosters.
