During the rain-delayed two-day match of the Super Four encounter of the Asia Cup, India thrashed Pakistan by a huge margin of 228 runs to give arch-rivals a few restless nights. The Men in Green were left looking for solutions as India appeared flawless throughout the entire game in an effort to avert the humiliating loss.
Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi was speaking about the same game when he harshly criticised the Men in Green, saying that winning and losing are both acceptable as long as the intent isn’t lost, which it was with Pakistan in their match against India.
“Winning and losing are inherent parts of competition, but not fighting and demonstrating a desire to win is poor. precisely what I meant to say in my prior tweet. India was the best team on the pitch when bowling and batting. Congratulations to @imVkohli for reaching another ODI run milestone, which was well-planned by you and KL. Rahul “Chin up boys, next match is #PakvsIND, you can do better than this,” Shahid Afridi tweeted.
Winning/losing is part of competing, but not putting up a fight, not showing intent to win is just poor. Exactly what I was referring to in my previous tweet.
India played as #1 on the field, batting & bowling. Congrats @imVkohli on achieving another dream milestone of ODI runs…— Shahid Afridi (@SAfridiOfficial) September 11, 2023
