As the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 got underway recently, with Asian nations competing for continental supremacy in Sri Lanka, some entertaining cricket action was in full flow.
Similarly, in the sixth match of the competition, Pakistan Women (PAK W) faced up against Nepal Women (NEP W), a rapidly emerging Asian team.
The Women in Green made the decision to go to bat first after winning the toss. Pakistan was focused on preserving their semifinal aspirations following a crushing loss to India Women, while the Everest nation was aiming for their second consecutive victory in the competition.
While Team Nepal got off to a fast start against Pakistan, they were given an early blow by Samjhana Khadka, who had earlier in the match against UAE scored a fifty-run strike that proved to be crucial to the outcome of the match. She was caught by Fatima Sana on the fourth ball of the innings, notably, following a magnificent extra cover drive on the third delivery. However, Nepal did let their guard down when Kabita Kunwar and Sita Rana Magar were having a great time, scoring 29/1 in just four overs while playing freely. However, spinner Sadia Iqbal hit two consecutive blows, bringing the determined Nepalese team down to 30/3 at the end of the powerplay phase.
Moreover, in the middle of the game, double runouts of Magar and rising star Rubina Chhetry undermined Nepal’s hopes of scoring a huge total. However, Puja Mahato and Kabita Joshi, who are young, accepted the responsibility and quickly amassed 24 runs in just 18 deliveries. After scoring 40 runs in the final five overs, Nepal surged to 108/6, giving them a chance in the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 T20 match.
The Pakistan Women’s opening team, in response, had their work cut out for them and performed their tasks to perfection in a dominant manner. Gull Feroza broke the opponents apart with a brilliant knock while batting, displaying some magnanimous touch. She teamed up with Muneeba Ali to create a 105-run partnership for the first wicket, completely undermining Nepal’s aim. Pakistan Women eventually knocked down the mark in just 11.5 overs, winning spectacularly by nine wickets.

Because of 3 run-outs (Nepal Mistake), they were able to restrict them under 120. Horrible fielding and horrible run-outs are part of women’s cricket.
