Recently, the Board of Control of Cricket in India made available an update about three players: Yash Dayal, Dhruv Jurel, and Sarfaraz Khan. Despite being included in India’s 16-man squad for the current Test match in Kanpur against Bangladesh, none of the three were selected for the starting XI.
The three young players have been released from Kanpur, according to a note sent by the BCCI on social media. This suggests that they will be available to their respective teams for the upcoming Irani Cup, which is scheduled to begin on October 1, 2024.
Mumbai vs. Rest of India in the 61st Irani Cup is scheduled to take place at Lucknow’s Ekana International Cricket Stadium. Dayal and Jurel, who played for India A and India B in the recently ended Duleep Trophy’s first round, will represent India while Sarfaraz plays for Mumbai.

The players should be able to get to the venue by road in around 2.5 hours, as the two locations are roughly 90 kilometres apart.
Excellent chance for young people to influence national selectors
None of the three stars mentioned above were able to establish themselves in the series as the Indian team chose to field an unchanged starting eleven in the second Test.
They won’t be far from becoming a regular member of the team, though. Sarfaraz and Jurel have experience in the red-ball arena, but the Bangladesh series marked the left-arm pacer’s first call-up to the Indian team. In the home series earlier this year, they both made their debuts against England.

Dayal first gained recognition in the Indian Premier League, but he has also steadily established himself in the longest format.
