At the second Test match between India and Bangladesh, which gets underway at Green Park, Kanpur, on Friday, September 27, Sanjay Manjrekar pleaded with the Indian team management to include Kuldeep Yadav in the starting lineup.
Kuldeep Yadav was left out of India’s starting eleven for the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai because Rohit Sharma and company fielded three pacers, despite his stellar performance during the five-match Test series against England at home, where he took 19 wickets in four games earlier this year. Manjrekar, though, has batted in favour of Kuldeep rejoining the team.
“Kuldeep Yadav shouldn’t, in my opinion, be dropped so quickly. Speaking on the YouTube channel, Manjrekar stated, “I think that even if it wasn’t a turner, India would have benefited from playing Kuldeep Yadav in Chennai because the seamers will get help for just one or one and a half days on an Indian pitch.”
To help Jasprit Bumrah relax, provide him with: Sanjay Manjrekar
Sanjay Manjrekar proposed the notion of substituting Kuldeep in the side for Jasprit Bumrah and letting him rest if he so chooses. In the upcoming months, India has five Test matches against Australia and three against New Zealand, so it could make sense to give their star pacer a break and keep him healthy.
“Give Bumrah a rest if he requests one. Regarding the adjustments he would make prior to the second Test, Manjrekar stated, “Try to get Kuldeep Yadav back.”
“They should remember that the green top will only last for the first several hours, and Siraj and Bumrah are sufficient for that, even though it’s a green top and the sun is out. The cricketer-turned-commentator continued, “You should play all three of your proven spinners.”
