Sanjay Manjrekar, a former India cricketer, criticized Rahul’s slow strike rate during the match when he talked about how he did it. In the sixth match of the Indian Premier League 2023, the Lucknow Super Giants had to beat the Chennai Super Kings, who had a huge total of 218 runs. To do this, they had to get off to a good start. Kyle Mayers, a 30-year-old player from the West Indies, stepped up when he was needed. He caused chaos by smashing 53 runs off of 22 deliveries, giving the visiting team a great start in the powerplay.
But when it came to his opening partner, KL Rahul, the captain once again failed to stand out, and Lucknow lost by 12 runs in the end. He thought the cricketer would start out strong, but to his surprise, Rahul held the team together while Kyle Mayers attacked the CSK bowlers. In response, Manjrekar criticized Rahul’s strategy and said that just because Kyle Mayers was giving the CSK bowlers a hard time didn’t mean that Rahul should have slowed down.
“KL Rahul went into a shell when Kyle Mayers’ strike rate was 240. Once Kyle Mayers was out, Rahul knew he had to go for the big shots, but his strike rate was only 111, so he was out. When you’re already playing in one gear, it’s hard to be explosive all of a sudden.
Sanjay Manjrekar told ESPN cricinfo, “You have to play each ball as it comes, and just because your opening partner is going hard doesn’t mean you should slow down.”
LSG’s first loss in the IPL 2023 is due to problems in the middle order.
After the opening pair was sent back to the pavilion, the pressure was on the middle order to deal with the situation, but they were mostly in a good place. Marcus Stonis and Nicholas Pooran were great in the middle, but as soon as they left, LSG fell apart. The Super Giants lost their first game of the season because the young player Ayush Badoni missed the ball more than once.
Stoinis, Pooran, and Badoni all played 18 balls and got scores of 21, 32, and 23. Stoinis only hit one six, but Pooran hit three sixes and two fours during his turn at bat. Badoni was brought in to be a key player for Lucknow, but he mostly just hit singles and doubles because he didn’t hit a single boundary.
The next game is on April 7 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
