On Friday, a “overwhelmed” Sam Curran said that he had a sleepless and nervous night before the IPL mini-auction, where he became the most expensive player in the history of the T20 league’s auction after fetching a staggering Rs 18.5 crore bid from Punjab Kings. Curran became the most expensive player in the history of the auction after the bid of Rs 18.5 crore.
The Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Lucknow Super Giants, and Punjab Kings all raised their paddles in a frenzied attempt to win the services of the T20 World Cup player of the tournament, Curran. The bidding was furious.
In the end, it was the Punjab Kings that broke the bank to get Curran, who drew the highest-ever bid that bettered the previous best buy of Rs 16.25 crore that Rajasthan Royals had shelled out to grab South African all-rounder Chris Morris in 2021. Curran is coming off of an outstanding performance in the Twenty20 World Cup, and he cannot wait to begin his new journey with Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League.
“Yeah, I believe that it will be really different, but like I mentioned before, I am familiar with the stadium. Being on a team with some known faces who are willing to lend a hand, such as Mohali, who I know very well, is definitely going to be of some benefit to me.
“And yeah, I feel good heading into this event, where I’ve come off of a wonderful World Cup,” she said. “And yeah, I feel confident going into this tournament.” He continued, “And yeah, it’s fantastic, I’m just extremely excited, it’s just a few months away before I will be travelling to India, but it’s incredibly exciting.” “And yeah, it’s amazing, I’m just incredibly excited,” he said.
As you can obviously understand, this is an extraordinary opportunity that presents itself to me on a gigantic scale, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about it. There are a great number of things going through my head at the moment, and yes, it is utterly wonderful; I feel really overwhelmed.
