The players that the Saint Lucia Kings signed and kept before the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) draft have been officially confirmed. For the 2024 season, they have twelve players confirmed, and they will need to fill five positions at the July draft.
The addition of South African superstars Faf du Plessis and Heinrich Klaasen to the Kings will significantly strengthen the Saint Lucian franchise’s batting lineup in 2024. Additionally, the Kings have signed on with Namibian seam-bowling all-rounder David Wiese, Afghan left-arm spinner Noor Ahmad, and Sri Lankan top-order batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa.
With Johnson Charles, Alzarri Joseph, Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, and Khary Pierre returning for 2024, they have kept the core group of Caribbean players who helped them win a fourth straight postseason berth in 2023.
Shadrack Descarte and McKenny Clarke, two seam bowlers, complete the Kings’ retention list as they aim to win their maiden CPL championship in 2024.
Du Plessis and Klaasen, two of the Kings’ high-profile additions, recently finished a full IPL season in which both RCB and SRH qualified for the playoffs. SRH actually played the summit match against KKR, although it was a one-sided match in the end. Throughout his 16 IPL games, Klassen amassed 479 runs at an average of nearly 40 and four half-centuries. However, after losing seven straight games to begin the season, Du Plessis showed admirable effort to propel RCB into the playoffs.

During IPL 2024, the captain of RCB scored 438 runs in 15 games at an average of 29.20. For the Kings in the upcoming CPL season, both acquisitions will be crucial.
