At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, the legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar will present the Indian Under-19 Women’s Cricket Team with a trophy for winning the very first ICC Under-19 Twenty20 World Cup.
Jay Shah, the secretary of the BCCI, tweeted out the following information: “It is with great satisfaction that I share that Bharat Ratna Shri Sachin Tendulkar and @BCCI Office Bearers will felicitate the victorious India U19 team on February 1st in Narendra Modi Stadium at 6:30 PM IST.”
“The young cricketers have done India proud, and we shall celebrate their accomplishments,” said the Indian official.
India, captained by Shafali Verma, defeated England in the final of the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup held in Potchefstroom, South Africa, by a score of seven wickets to win the tournament for the first time ever.
It should be noted that this is India’s very first women’s international cricket championship ever held by the ICC.
After travelling all the way from South Africa, the winning team will arrive in Mumbai on Tuesday, and then on Wednesday, they will continue on to Ahmedabad for the ceremony of felicitation.
In this location, the felicitation ceremony will take place on the sidelines of the third and final Twenty20 International that will decide the series between India and New Zealand.
