Due to his involvement with an online game advertisement, legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar experienced significant anger from fans. Notably, a political group planned a demonstration in front of the cricketer’s Bandra home.
The protesters have additionally vowed to file a lawsuit against the aforementioned relationship. This occurred when Sachin joined “Paytm First Games,” a gaming platform that enables followers to play online games and earn actual cash sums.
Tendulkar has been urged by the demonstrators to terminate his affiliation with the advertising campaign. The cricketer hasn’t, however, made any official statements about it as of yet.
According to reports, Bachchu Kadu, an independent MLA, and his party members were responsible for organizing the rallies. Later, the party members who had organized the protests were brought to the Bandra Police Station. According to Kadu, Tendulkar received a message on August 30 stating that recipients of the Bharat Ratna award must uphold a “code of conduct.”
“Those who get the Bharat Ratna are required to adhere to a code of conduct. On August 30, 2023, Sachin Tendulkar will get a notification from us. We gave him until the 30th as our deadline. He hasn’t yet made any of his positions on this clear. Thus, we will provide a notice to him via a lawyer, according to Kadu, who was quoted by Times Now.
Kadu will now maintain donation boxes at Ganapati Mandals and deliver the money raised through donations to Tendulkar in order to dissuade the cricket icon from endorsing online gaming and reduce misleading influence among youth. Additionally, he demanded that the 50-year-old quit promoting online gaming or renounce his Bharat Ratna honor.
He also posted a video on his social media account in which he showed his disapproval of the batting prodigy’s promotion of fantasy gaming applications.
The Bharat Ratna is Sachin Tendulkar. It is inappropriate for someone with a large following and the Bharat Ratna Award to promote a gambling app like Paytm First. I kindly ask Sachin Tendulkar and the Maharashtra government to immediately outlaw this advertisement,” Kadu wrote on his social media account.
For those who were unaware, Sachin Tendulkar will join First Games as the brand ambassador in 2020. It will be interesting to watch if the renowned cricketer issues a formal remark on the subject in the upcoming days.
