Suryakumar Yadav continued his dominant form in IPL 2023 by scoring his first IPL century against the Gujarat Titans in Match 57 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, May 12th. The MI batsman played a sensational innings of 103* off 49 deliveries, smashing 11 fours and six sixes to help Mumbai post a massive first-inning total of 218/5.
In response, GT’s second-inning total of 191/8 was insufficient, as MI won the match by 27 runs. During his breathtaking innings, Suryakumar’s strokeplay left the entire cricketing community in astonishment as he hit boundaries all over the field. Former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh also praised the star batsman and credited him with propelling Mumbai to victory in the tournament.
“I can only genuflect before him. Keep trying. He is almost solely responsible for directing MI’s campaign. Suryakumar is operating at a higher level than the rest of the group. He’s extraordinary and unstoppable. I am at a loss for words to laud him.
Salute,” Harbhajan Singh wrote on his official YouTube page.
In addition, the former spinner compared him to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Lasith Malinga for his ability to make the audience go wild with his shots.
“I hope he stays healthy and continues to win matches for MI. Because the refrain of ‘Surya, Surya’ reverberates throughout the entire stadium when he comes to bat. Previously, it was ‘Sachin, Sachin’ and then ‘Malinga, Malinga’. Now, it’s Suryakumar Yadav. Suryakumar is currently the most famous player on the Mumbai Indians roster. “His performances are winning over the hearts of everyone,” he added.
Suryakumar Yadav ascends to third place on the IPL 2023 Orange Caps list.
SKY, as his admirers lovingly refer to him, has climbed to the third spot on the list of the current season’s top run scorers with 479 runs from 12 innings at an average of 43.54 and a strike rate of 190.0%, scoring 104 fifties.
In the first five innings of the tournament, the swashbuckling batter scored just 66 runs, including scores of 0 and 1 in two innings. However, he made a remarkable comeback against the Punjab Kings, scoring 57 runs off 26 deliveries, and has maintained his form since then.
With only two matches remaining in the league stage, MI will be hoping that Rohit Sharma maintains his form.
